Lost in the Funhouse
In 2013 I graduated with a Master of Arts (MA) from the Design School at the Danish Academy of Fine Arts. For my master project, I worked as Production Designer on the 7-minute animated film Lost in the Funhouse, created as a mid-term production at the National Film School of Denmark and directed by animation director student William Reynish.
The film was produced in collaboration with a larger team, including model makers, 3D artists, and animators, working together to develop the visual world and production design.
The story follows a boy named Ambrose, who visits an amusement park with his family. When he enters a funhouse with his older brother and girlfriend, he becomes separated from them and gets lost inside the maze-like structure. As he navigates deeper, he discovers that the funhouse is a mechanical construction, eventually finding his way behind the scenes and out of the film’s universe.
Below is an excerpt from the movie followed by a selection of sketches from my design process, along with screenshots from the film.
